A local creative director by the name of Brelyn LeCheminant has launched a fantastic initiative called Alt Muse Collective. This event series aims to unite Charleston’s creative talent over casual networking and engaging discussions. “I’ve been working as a creative here for nine years,” Brelyn shares, explaining her inspiration for bringing together artists and freelancers. “You work with amazing people, become friends, but then you move on, and it’s tough to keep in touch.”

The first gathering was hosted at the charming Philosophers & Fools bookshop, and it was just the beginning! The most recent Alt Muse event held at Silver Hill Studios was a hit, featuring Charleston’s own poet laureate, Asiah Mae, along with live headshot sessions by talented photographer Caroline Herring. Brelyn thinks outside the box, hoping to introduce niche events like drag makeup tutorials or resource nights for small businesses in the future. “Charleston has an incredible pool of talent; it’s time we tap into that!”
