CHARLESTON, S.C. – As the temperature is set to take a nosedive into the lower 30s this week, residents are feeling the bite of winter. To help those in need of a warm refuge, several local shelters will be stepping up to provide comfort and warmth during these frigid nights. So, if you or someone you know could use a cozy place to escape the cold, read on!
According to our trusty Storm Team 2, temperatures will likely plummet into the 30s overnight tonight and keep falling into the 20s through midday Wednesday. That kind of cold can be pretty tough, especially for those without a warm place to stay. Fortunately, the Lowcountry is coming together to help out our neighbors in need.
Here are the warming centers that are opening up to help keep you warm:
If you’re looking for additional details or need to find out about other warming shelters, just shoot a text with the word TRANSPORT to 320320, or call 843-486-0193, and choose the warming center option. Your comfort is important, so don’t hesitate to reach out!
As the weather turns colder, we’ll keep people informed about new warming shelters opening, so if you know of one that should be highlighted, reach out and let us know. Our community is strong when we help each other, and every little bit counts during these chilly nights.
As we gear up for these cold nights ahead, let’s not forget to take care of one another and offer a helping hand where we can. Winter may be here, but together we can weather the storm and stay warm!
