Charleston Welcomes Four New Faces to Men’s Basketball Coaching Staff
CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston head men’s basketball coach Chris Mack has announced the additions of Matt McCall, Chris Harriman, Jeff McInnis, and Seth Tatum to his inaugural staff for the 2024-25 season. These four experienced and talented individuals are set to bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the Charleston program.
Matt McCall – Associate Head Coach
McCall, who will serve as associate head coach, brings an impressive resume to the Charleston coaching staff. With seven seasons as a Division I head coach at Chattanooga and UMass, McCall has a proven track record of success. Notably, during his first season at Chattanooga, he led the Mocs to a school record with 29 wins, including capturing the SoCon Regular Season and Tournament Championships.
Mack expressed his excitement about having McCall on board, citing his background in player development and leadership qualities. McCall’s experience working with legendary coach Billy Donovan at the University of Florida adds another layer of expertise to the coaching staff.
Chris Harriman – Assistant Coach
Harriman joins the staff as an assistant coach after a successful season at St. Louis. With previous coaching stints at Cal, New Mexico, and Nebraska, Harriman brings a diverse coaching background to Charleston. His international recruiting ties and reputation as one of the top NCAA Division I assistants make him a valuable addition to the staff.
Former NBA draft pick McInnis adds a unique perspective to the coaching staff with his 11-year playing career in the NBA. With experience playing for multiple NBA teams, including the Denver Nuggets and Cleveland Cavaliers, McInnis brings a wealth of knowledge to the team. Mack highlighted McInnis’ winning mentality and player development skills, noting his success both on the court and in grassroots coaching. As a resource for players with professional basketball aspirations, McInnis’s insights and X’s and O’s knowledge will be invaluable to the team. Tatum, a graduate of the University of Louisville, joins the staff as the Director of Basketball Operations. With experience as a student manager and graduate assistant at Louisville, Tatum brings a meticulous and detail-oriented approach to his role. His responsibilities include handling day-to-day operations and video analysis for scouting opponents and self-scouting. Mack commended Tatum’s work ethic and loyalty, noting his long-standing relationship with the coaching staff. Tatum’s organizational skills and ability to handle multiple assignments make him a key member of the Charleston coaching staff. With the addition of McCall, Harriman, McInnis, and Tatum, Coach Mack has assembled a talented and experienced coaching staff for the upcoming season.
