Hey there, Charleston residents! It’s a beautiful start to the weekend, and we have a bit of everything on the forecast menu for you. A wedge of high pressure has settled in, keeping us mostly dry for now, but there are whispers of slim rain chances fluttering in from the coast!
As the sun dips down, a coastal trough is trying to gather strength. It means that while most of us will enjoy a lovely evening, areas of drizzle could surprise those in upper Charleston and Georgetown Counties. But don’t worry, these splashes are expected to be brief and isolated as the night rolls on.
For those who plan to step outside tonight, expect skies to remain partly to mostly clear. Overnight lows will dip into the mid to upper 40s, so a light jacket might be a good idea for evening strolls!
Good news for Sunday morning! Any lingering drizzle should clear out early, giving way to better weather as high pressure strengthens to our north. Expect a mix of clouds and sunshine throughout the day and calm winds. Highs will climb into the mid to upper 60s, making it perfect for outdoor plans.
However, keep in mind that elevated high tides are still hanging around thanks to our full moon cycle, and another Coastal Flood Advisory has been issued. The advisory runs from 6-10 AM, so if you’re near the coast, be on the lookout for minor to moderate tidal flooding.
As we slide into the beginning of the week, temperatures are expected to stay above average. Monday should bring pleasant conditions with highs in the low 70s, and our friend the thermometer will continue on an upward trend, hitting possible record-challenging mid to upper 70s inland by Tuesday. Isn’t that exciting?
But wait, don’t put away those umbrellas just yet! A new disturbance is set to make itself known late Wednesday, bringing our next chance for rain. So, make sure to keep an eye on the sky as we approach the middle of the week.
Now, as much as we’re loving this warmer streak, the weather will take a dip later in the week. By Thursday, expect to see cooler air making its grand entrance with highs dropping back into the 60s. And Friday? Well, it’ll be even chillier, as we settle into the low to mid 50s. Time to dig out those cozy sweaters!
So there you have it, Charleston! A weekend full of surprises awaits. Keep the Live 5 Weather app close at hand for the most current updates on advisories and road closures. Stay cozy and enjoy your time outdoors!
