Hey Charleston! Are you ready for an action-packed weekend? If you’re in the mood to enjoy some thrilling events, the city has plenty to offer, from skateboard competitions to lively music festivals and community arts events. Get your calendars ready because you won’t want to miss out on all the fun!
First up, let’s talk about the Boardr Series, a thrilling national skateboarding competition hosted by Charleston County Parks from September 13-14. Kicking off at 6 p.m. on Friday, it will continue from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at SK8 Charleston, located at 1549 Oceanic St. Funky skateboarders from around the country, including Oliver Holm, an internationally recognized skater from Denmark, are coming to show off their mad skills!
Skaters of all ages and skill levels are invited to participate and strut their stuff on the bowl and street courses. It’s expected to be a lively atmosphere, with $250 cash prizes up for grabs for the best tricks! Remember, while the event is free to attend, entry fees will help support the Grind For Life nonprofit organization. So come cheer on our local shredders and those traveling from afar!
Are you a fan of live music? Then swing by the 4th Annual Drifter Fest happening on September 13-14. Celebrate the legacy of Bert Griggs with a weekend full of tunes, tasty food, and good vibes. The festival launches with a pre-jam party at Home Team BBQ on Friday night, where 54 Bicycles will have you grooving from 6-10 p.m. Don’t forget to check out the after-parties at The Commodore and The Palace Hotel later that night!
On Saturday, enjoy a memorial jam at The Refinery from 5-11 p.m. for an incredible lineup of musicians. Grab your tickets for a great cause—advance purchases start at $25
If you’re looking for something a little more laid back, head over to Drayton Hall on Saturday evening from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.. Experience the property after hours, complete with live music on the lawn, food, and fun games! The landscape is stunning, making it a perfect stop for a picnic. Scavenger hunts will keep the kids entertained, while adults can enjoy beer and wine for purchase. Tickets are just $15 for adults, making for a fitting and affordable night out.
Don’t miss Incredible Con, an anime-filled extravaganza happening from September 14-15 at the North Charleston Area Convention Center. Come meet stars from your favorite shows, participate in panels, and show off your cosplay skills. Tickets are reasonable, at $15 for Saturday, $20 for Sunday, or grab a weekend pass for $30!
