The pleasant weather is perfect for outdoor activities, but be cautious of heat risks. Saturday promises partly cloudy skies and warm temps around 76°F, while Sunday could reach a delightful 80°F. Record-Warm Temperatures Forecasted for Charleston as Lowcountry Prepares for Weekend
Hey, Charleston! It looks like we’re in for some gorgeous, balmy weather as we round the corner into the weekend! Get ready to bask in the sunshine because record-challenging warmth is upon us. Get your shorts and flip-flops ready, because the temperatures are rising, and so are the chances for outdoor plans!
On Thursday, we were so close to breaking a record high temperature of 78°F, which was set back in 2019. Many parts of the Lowcountry, especially those inland, were reporting temperatures hitting the fabulous mid to upper 70s. Talk about feeling like summer in the heart of winter! As the nighttime rolls in, lows are expected to drop into the 50s, and maybe even brushing near 60°F. If you’re out and about tonight, you might want to grab a light jacket as the cool evening air sets in.
Now, weather watchers, take note! For those of you living west of I-95, you will likely see patchy clouds hanging about along with a bit more moisture in the air, making it feel a tad warmer with lows hovering near the low 60s. If you’re in Orangeburg, you could be part of some record-breaking fun too, as the overnight lows are expected to remain above the current record of 56°F set in 2019.
Friday Forecast: A Warm Welcome
Fast forward to Friday morning, and you’ll notice a lovely collection of high clouds making their way into the sky. But don’t worry, as the day progresses, those temperatures are ready to bounce right back up! Many of our inland areas can expect to see afternoon highs reaching the comfortable upper 70s and even creeping into the low 80s. Might want to keep an eye on the thermometer because we could be looking to either tie or break another record at the Charleston International Airport!
If you’re enjoying the coastal breeze, don’t fret! Those areas will remain a bit cooler, hugging the 60s and sneaking up to near 70°F thanks to those gentle southerly winds keeping things mild. However, keep an umbrella handy as there is a slight chance of sprinkles throughout the day with a weak front inching closer to our sunny shores.
Weekend Plans? You’re Covered!
As we dive into the weekend, it seems like Mother Nature is putting on quite a show! Saturday is shaping up to be partly cloudy with highs around 76°F, perfect for a picnic in the park or a stroll along the waterfront. Fast forward to Sunday, and the heat cranks up to a lovely 80°F. What a delightful way to wrap up the weekend!
Heads up, though: come Monday, the weather will be a bit touch and go with a mix of sun and clouds, plus the possibility of a few light showers to cool things down again with a high of 67°F. So stay prepared, folks!
Safety First!
As we enjoy this warm spell, it’s also important to remember that extreme heat can pose risks. The National Weather Service urges us to stay hydrated and take precautions to avoid any heat-related illnesses. Your safety is the most important thing, so keep yourselves cool while having fun in the sun!
So there you have it, Charleston! With beautiful weather in the forecast, it’s an excellent time to enjoy all that our lovely city has to offer. Stay safe, stay cool, and make the most of it!
