Charleston Unites for Hurricane Helene Relief Efforts

Charleston Comes Together for Hurricane Relief

Charleston, a city known for its warm-hearted residents and vibrant community spirit, is currently rallying together to support those affected by Hurricane Helene in Southeastern communities. The impact of Helene has left many individuals and families struggling, and Charleston’s bars, breweries, distilleries, and restaurants are stepping up to help raise both money and essential supplies for recovery efforts.

Local Restaurants Join Forces

Among those leading the charge is Bar Rollins, which is hosting a Charleston block party on October 6. A portion of the proceeds from bottle sales and merchandise will go directly to the Southern Smoke Foundation, a nonprofit that lends a helping hand to food and beverage workers during emergencies. It’s a great way to enjoy good food and drinks while supporting a worthy cause!

Besides Bar Rollins, several other establishments are getting in on the action. For example, Welton’s Tiny Bakeshop is donating 10% of all sales during this week to the Southern Smoke Foundation. Similarly, Lenoir has introduced a delicious Cherry Bounce cocktail to its menu, which will see a portion of its sales going towards hurricane relief. The Cherry Bounce, which features cinnamon-spiced cherry juice, lemon, Cathead vodka, and ginger beer, is not only refreshing but also a nod to North Carolina’s roots.

Craft Beer for a Cause

If you’re a fan of craft beer, you’re in luck! From now through October 4, you can sip on a pint at local breweries like Revelry, Edmund’s Oast Brewing Co., Coast, and Munkle. Each pint sold contributes $1 to Water Mission’s relief efforts in Western North Carolina. So, grab your friends and raise your glasses for a good cause!

Matching Donations and Supply Drives

Odd Duck Market is also getting creative with its support for hurricane relief efforts. For the week starting October 1, the market will match any donations, up to $2,000, for those impacted in the Appalachian foothills. This is an exciting opportunity for the community to amplify their donations and make a more significant impact.

There are many local organizations in North Carolina and Asheville that are in need of support. Park & Grove has provided a list of recommended resources, including Beloved Asheville, Manna Food Bank, and Foothills Food Hub. Each of these groups is dedicated to making sure that those affected receive necessary assistance.

Drop-Off and Donation Locations

For those looking to contribute physically, the Charleston Climate Coalition has shared numerous drop-off locations for supplies. Notable spots include The Whale and Hobcaw Brewing. Many restaurants and bars are also accepting donations indefinitely, including Cleats, The Junction, both Tattooed Moose locations, and all Kickin’ Chicken locations. Be sure to check their social media for details about specific supply needs and donation times.

Additionally, Pizza A Modo Mio’s two locations are accepting donations of clothes, canned goods, water, and other essential items until October 5. If you’re looking to provide financial support, businesses like Baguette Magic also offer a way to donate money directly, helping those in need across North Carolina.

Stay Involved and Updated

The support for hurricane relief is an ever-evolving effort in Charleston. The community’s generosity and willingness to lend a hand is truly heartwarming. For those interested in contributing, it’s essential to check back regularly for updates on donation opportunities and to follow your favorite restaurants and establishments for the latest information on their initiatives.

Every bit helps, and together, we can make a real difference for those affected by Hurricane Helene. Let’s continue to show how much we care and support our neighbors in need!
