The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is gearing up for the 2nd Annual Student Health & Wellbeing Conference, set to take place in 2023. MUSC has revealed an initial roster of renowned academics and healthcare experts to grace the event, further solidifying the conference as an essential platform for addressing student health and well-being in educational institutions. Among the distinguished presenters are professionals from both MUSC and New York University (NYU).
Dr. S. Akeya Harrold, an esteemed Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, will be among the conference’s roster at MUSC. Dr. Harrold, who serves the Counseling & Psychological Services Division of Education Innovation & Student Life at MUSC, is also a Clinical Instructor at the College of Nursing.

In addition to Harrold and Moore, attendees will also hear from Donna Lee Williams, a dual-capable nursing and fine arts professional who is a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at MUSC. Besides delivering evidence-based care to students, Williams is also renowned for her innovative approach to mental health programs, including therapeutic improv and plant therapy.

She boasts a distinguished career in network leadership, systemic change, and capacity building for continuous improvement, earning national acclaim for her innovative approaches in the higher education sector.
The speakers will deliver talks and conduct workshops that seek to produce tangible, measurable improvements in student health and wellbeing. The forthcoming conference is expected to provide valuable insights, discussion triggers, and solution-driven narratives to all attendees, leveraging their experience and knowledge.
With the shared dream for a healthier, more supportive educational environment, the conference aims to harness the best of academia and mental health to produce a significant positive effect on student life across the globe.
