Charleston Signs Elijah Jones to Men’s Basketball Roster

Exciting Addition to Cougar’s Lineup for 2024-25 Season

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston has added a valuable asset to its men’s basketball roster with the signing of Green Bay transfer Elijah Jones for the upcoming 2024-25 season. Head coach Chris Mack expressed his enthusiasm for the new addition, highlighting Jones’ versatile skills on the court.

Impressive Stats

Jones, who hails from Illinois, brings a wealth of experience to the Cougars after a successful stint at Green Bay. In the previous season, he showcased his abilities in 31 games, earning 29 starts. His performance on the court was notable, as he led the team with an average of 6.7 rebounds per game, ranking seventh in the Horizon League. Additionally, Jones contributed 8.1 points per game while boasting an impressive 59% field goal shooting percentage.

Prior to his time at Green Bay, Jones made a mark in the NJCAA circuit during his tenure at John A. Logan College. His exceptional skills were evident as he played a crucial role in securing a national championship victory over Northwest Florida State College. Jones displayed remarkable accuracy, shooting 60% from the field and 52.8% from beyond the arc during the championship campaign, showcasing his prowess as a sharpshooter.

Varied Skill Set

Coach Mack praised Jones’ all-around abilities, emphasizing his defensive capabilities as a standout feature. “Elijah is a multifaceted wing that can guard any position on the floor. His length, athleticism, and defensive effort truly set him apart,” noted Mack. On the offensive end, Jones is known for his quick first step, agile moves, and efficient shooting from long range. He is also recognized for his prowess on the boards, making him a valuable asset on both ends of the court.

Previous Collegiate Stints

Before his time at Green Bay, Jones honed his skills at Southern Indiana, where he spent the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons. Following a redshirt year in 2020-21, Jones made significant contributions to the Screaming Eagles in the subsequent season, appearing in 23 games and averaging 4.7 points per contest. His experience at both Southern Indiana and John A. Logan College has helped shape him into a well-rounded player poised to make an impact at Charleston.

Anticipated Arrival

The Cougars are eagerly awaiting Jones’ arrival on campus this summer, as they look forward to integrating his talents into the team’s roster for the upcoming season. With his dynamic skill set and proven track record, Jones is poised to make a significant contribution to the College of Charleston’s men’s basketball program, adding depth and versatility to the lineup.
