New Restaurant Openings in Charleston Winter 2024

Get ready, Charleston food lovers! There is a tide of new restaurants set to open their doors throughout the city this winter, catering to a variety of tastes and culinary preferences. From cozy bookshop bistros to smokehouse delights and vegan delis, this winter promises an array of eateries ready to tantalize your taste buds.

Exciting New Openings

Philosophers & Fools, a new gem located on Bogard Street, combines the charm of a neighborhood bookshop with a front of house bar offering beer, wine and small bites. This culinary delight, nestled conveniently near the popular Vern’s and Chubby Fish restaurants, is a passion project from Michael Bourke and Jenny Ferrara.

Meanwhile, Coterie, the existing gastronomic delight in Radcliffborough, is revamping its menu under the artful guidance of new chef Damian Sandoval. Previously of Xiao Bao Biscuit and Obstinate Daughter fame, Sandoval will lead the culinary expedition, navigating modern American flavors with inspiration from Mexico, Asia, India, Europe, and beyond.

Culinary Delights In NOMO And West Ashley

For sports enthusiasts and food lovers alike, look no further than Red Palm in NOMO, a new tavern and sports bar offering wood-fired wings, shrimp flatbreads, disco fries and more. The lively destination also has a congenial outdoor patio and entertainment like billiards and darts to keep you hooked.

West Ashley is now home to the third location of the beloved Mexican staple, Santi’s. With its existing admirable menu and sparkling new decor, this spot is ready to sizzle.

A taste of Thailand and Tavern in North Central and Mount Pleasant

In North Central, the newly opened Mango Tree Thai Cafe offers an impressive selection of Thai classics, such as pad see ew, tom ka gai, curries and fresh basil rolls while Bodega in Mount Pleasant has recently expanded to serve their signature large breakfast sandwiches and boozy morning beverages at their latest locale.

Foodies Rejoice in Lower King and the Neck

In Lower King, downtown Charleston welcomes the first South Carolina branch of Virginia-based Bartaco. The new location will feature its signature menu of tacos, rice bowls, and margaritas along with a variety of chips and queso.

And, not to be forgotten this winter is Cleats, a promising new sports bar located in The Neck, brought to you by the team behind Daps Breakfast & Imbibe. They’re offering a tantalizing menu featuring pit beef sandwiches, hatch chili wings, and boozy Gatorade, among other tasty options.

Unparalleled Culinary Experiences in West Side, Folly Beach and Johns Island

West Side will introduce a unique concept by the team behind Italian favorite Le Farfalle with the opening of Da Toscano Porchetta Shop. The café will focus on housemade focaccia sandwiches with a huge variety of fillings ranging from chorizo and egg to a sumptuous porchetta.

Folly Beach locals and visitors alike can enjoy beers and food at the new outpost by Revelry Brewing close to the coastline. Over at Johns Island, the adventurous crowd can head to Lost Isle known for its outdoor set-up and playful, communal dining experience.

Charlestonians are in for a culinary treat this winter as these new eateries strive to offer unique gastronomic experiences across the city. Stay tuned to savor the new flavors and remember, good food is all the sweeter when shared with good friends.
