A Birthday Celebration Marks 17 Years of Charleston Parks Conservancy
Charleston Parks Conservancy is celebrating its 17th birthday by hosting a picnic for the public on April 28, 2024. The Picnic for the Parks event, which is set to take place at the Rose Pavilion in Hampton Park, is a testament to the organization’s commitment to enhancing 24 public parks in Charleston over the past 17 years.
The event, scheduled to start at 10 a.m. and end at 1 p.m., promises a variety of attractions to engage people of all ages. Attendees will find attractions like a petting zoo, field games, flower crown making, face painting, and live music performances by the Green Levels. A delicious assortment of local food treats will be served by Welton’s Fine Foods, The Dewberry, and Hero Doughnuts and Buns, with refreshing beverages provided by Bevi Bene Brewing Company and Volley Tequila Seltzer, and a curated wine bar from Graft Wine Shop.
Supporting the Community
The celebration is also designed as a fundraiser, with all proceeds going towards the ongoing initiatives of the Conservancy. These initiatives include park revitalization efforts, environmental education programs, and community engagement activities. The ticket prices for the event stand at $50 for children and $125 for adults.
Darlene Heater, CEO of the Charleston Parks Conservancy, expressed her organization’s gratitude for the community support they enjoy. “Our community-funded organization couldn’t carry out the crucial work of park revitalization, education programs, and community engagement without the generous support of our community,” she said, emphasizing that the event was a testament to the collective effort that makes Charleston’s parks so beloved and sustainable.
