ELON, N.C. – The College of Charleston’s baseball team continued its offensive onslaught with a 14-10 victory over Elon, keeping the Cougars in the hunt for the CAA regular season championship. The win marked Charleston’s 18th victory in its last 21 conference games and moved the team into a tie for first place with UNCW, pending the outcome of the Seahawks’ game at Delaware Thursday night. The loss eliminated Elon from postseason contention, making way for an exciting upcoming series.

Cougars Seeking Eighth Straight CAA Series Victory

The Cougars (37-12, 19-5 CAA) will face Elon (21-30, 10-15) in the middle game of the series on Friday at 6 p.m. as they aim for their eighth straight CAA series victory. Charleston’s strong performance has put them in a prime position to contend for the regular season title.

Game Highlights and Key Moments

The game remained tightly contested, with the score tied at 8-8 in the sixth inning. Kevin Madden delivered a crucial RBI single to bring home Cole Mathis, breaking the deadlock. Dylan Johnson added to the lead with a sacrifice fly, and Tyler Sorrentino contributed an RBI single to secure the win for Charleston.

In the seventh inning, Cole Singsank’s home run extended the lead, marking his team-leading 17th home run of the season. Johnson also homered in the game, while Trotter Harlan added a double among his three hits. The Cougars’ offense primarily relied on 15 singles to generate runs, with Mathis and Sorrentino also tallying three hits each.
