On January 1, a 23-year-old man, Tyorrie Narjay Prioleau-Seabrook, was arrested for armed robbery at a McDonald’s in Charleston. The incident involved a Glock and the transfer of $550 from the victim’s phone. This case, along with other recent crimes, has left the community feeling unsafe and eager for improved security measures. Authorities continue their investigations into these troubling events as residents hope for justice.
It’s a sunny day in Charleston, and New Year’s celebrations are still in the air when a serious incident takes place that will leave many raising eyebrows. Just after 4:20 p.m. on January 1, a local man, Tyorrie Narjay Prioleau-Seabrook, aged 23, has been charged with armed robbery in a parking lot of a well-known McDonald’s located off Sam Rittenburg Boulevard.
The incident began when Prioleau-Seabrook made arrangements to meet a potential buyer for some headphones. However, things took a dark turn when he entered the victim’s car. Reports indicate that this wasn’t just a casual sale—it quickly escalated when Prioleau-Seabrook allegedly pulled out a Glock and demanded the victim’s belongings, including their phone.
But the robbery didn’t stop there. Using the victim’s phone, he swiftly transferred a whopping $550 to an account that has been identified as belonging to someone named Cordell Drayton. This bold and brazen act was carried out in mere minutes, leaving the victim stunned and Prioleau-Seabrook dashing out of the vehicle. In his rush, he unwittingly left behind a black gun case for a Glock 43X, which the victim later handed over to law enforcement.
Initially, the victim didn’t rush to report the robbery, which raises eyebrows about the psychological impact of such an encounter. Instead, they took some time to conduct their own investigation through social media, utilizing the victim’s phone and the Venmo account to gather information. It wasn’t until January 3 that the police report was officially filed.
Fast forward to January 10 when Prioleau-Seabrook was arrested and booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center. His bond has been set at a considerable amount of $115,000. Charleston County jail records indicate that this isn’t Prioleau-Seabrook’s first run-in with the law; he has prior charges including receiving a stolen vehicle and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
But it’s not just Prioleau-Seabrook making headlines. In a separate incident causing further concern, two men attempted an armed robbery in North Charleston. Sadly, one victim was shot in both the leg and arm and required immediate hospitalization. As of now, no arrests have been reported in this troubling case, leaving residents anxious about safety in their community.
And there’s more. Marquashia Pinckney, a 19-year-old, has been charged with armed robbery involving a deadly weapon as well as possession of a weapon during a violent crime related to an incident at a Family Dollar store on January 3. Reports state that Pinckney and an accomplice made off with three storage bins filled with merchandise. An alert store employee confronted them, prompting Pinckney to brandish a firearm.
The duo made a chaotic getaway, with their trunk wide open to avoid showing their license plate. However, thanks to the alert employee who recorded part of the troubling incident, police were able to gather descriptions and images of the suspects. Utilizing a SLED facial recognition scan, authorities linked Pinckney to the robbery, which culminated in her booking at the Al Cannon Detention Center on January 8. She remains in custody with a bond set at $60,000.
As incidents like these unfold, Charleston’s community is left grappling with feelings of unease. The very places often seen as safe spots for casual interactions, like McDonald’s, are now marred by violent crime. Local residents are eager for improved measures to restore safety and trust within their neighborhoods.
As the investigations continue, fingers will surely be crossed for justice to be served quickly. Stay vigilant, Charleston, and always keep an eye on your surroundings!
