In an effort to understand all litigable facets of his city, Charleston’s Mayor, William Cogswell, aligned himself to a day on the job with the city’s environmental service employees. Mayor Cogswell made this move early in April, partaking in the workers’ everyday garbage route.
“After spending the day with these environmental champions, I attest that the tasks they carry out regularly are quite challenging. I encourage all Charleston residents to show their appreciation to these city workers whenever they come across them,” said Mayor Cogswell.
In his ongoing pursuit to immerse himself in the city’s workings, Mayor Cogswell met with Matt Alltop, the Deputy Director of Public Service in Charleston. The meeting’s primary focus was the discussion of a novel application, CHS Trashtracker. This invention aims to streamline residents’ interaction with the city’s environmental administration.
CHS Trashtracker, as the new app is named, is set to offer a platform for city dwellers to effortlessly access crucial environmental information. Charleston dwellers would be able to check their garbage collection schedules, inquire about street sweeping plans, and report any problems they may face on their streets.
The issues residents can report on the application encompass a wide range of challenges, including graffiti on the streets, missed collections, malfunctioning street lights, litter heaps, and potholes on the roadways. By mitigating the distance between the city residents and the municipal authorities, CHS Trashtracker aims to present an open dialogue platform for problem-solving.
Mayor William Cogswell’s move to spend a day on-site with environmental service workers has shown his commitment to serving every facet of Charleston city. His involvement with the CHS Trashtracker application additionally presents an example of his efforts to use technology to improve the city inhabitants’ quality of life.
Under Mayor Cogswell’s management, Charleston’s city environment, and the services provided to its residents, are gradually advancing on the path of innovation and efficiency. As the mayor takes these evaluative steps, the city’s dwellers gain closer access to the workings of their environment.
