Charleston Literary Festival Unveils Headliners for November Event

Charleston, South Carolina is abuzz as the highly anticipated Charleston Literary Festival announces the initial lineup for the November event. A total of 14 authors out of an expected 35 plus have been revealed to be gracing the stage at this year’s 10-day celebration of literary accomplishments, running from Nov.1 through Nov. 10 at Dock Street Theatre.

The comprehensive list of authors is expected to be announced in the first week of September. However, literary enthusiasts can already secure Early Bird All Session Access Passes via the festival’s website, ensuring a front-row experience to the dynamic sessions of the event.

A Stellar Gathering of Literary Luminaries

Executive Director of Charleston Literary Festival, Sarah Moriarty muses on the announcement, “They reflect the Festival’s commitment to diverse literary excellence and innovation.” The initial roster boasts of renowned authors, poets, and scholars.

The Charleston Literary Festival’s Initial Lineup

  1. Nikki Giovanni: The celebrated poet and activist known for her stirring narrative amplified through her subtle humor, conviction, and devotion.
  2. Colm Tóibín: The laureate for Irish Fiction set to discuss his latest book, “Long Island”—a sequel to his award-winning piece, “Brooklyn.”
  3. Jayne Anne Phillips: 2024 Pulitzer Prize winner for Fiction, Phillips will bring to light her mother-daughter survival story set in the aftermath of the Civil War.
  4. Ilyon Woo: The 2024 Pulitzer Prize winner for Biography will engage the audience with her book, “Master, Slave, Husband, Wife: An Epic Journey from Slavery to Freedom.”
  5. Paul Murray: The 2023 Booker Prize nominee to discuss his intriguing work, “The Bee Sting.”
  6. James Shapiro: Esteemed Shakespearean scholar delving into the insights from his history of the Federal Theatre Project, “The Playbook.”
  7. Eddie S. Glaude Jr: The New York Times bestselling author to share thoughts on his latest work, “We Are The Leaders We Have Been Looking For.”
