Charleston Junior Davis Aiken Named to NCBWA Stopper of the Year Midseason Watchlist

CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston junior closer Davis Aiken has been named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year Midseason Watchlist. Aiken is the second Cougar in the past three years selected to the list. William Privette, an All-American and current member of the Texas Ranger organization, was a finalist for the award in 2022.

Impressive Stats

The Simpsonville, S.C., product leads the CAA and ranks in the top 10 in the nation with eight saves, three of which completed Cougar shutouts. He has appeared in 22 games, tied for the most in the conference, and has an ERA of 2.49 and WHIP of 0.74. In 21.2 innings, he has allowed only 11 hits and five walks while striking out 15.

Key Role in Team Success

Aiken has played a key role in Charleston’s success this season, with the team posting a team ERA of 3.49, the third-best in the nation through last weekend. His dominant performances on the mound have been instrumental in securing victories for the Cougars and keeping them competitive in every game.
