Charleston Embraces the Holidays with Festive Markets and Community Celebrations

Charleston’s Holiday Spirit Shines Bright!

It’s that enchanting time of year again, folks! Charleston is all geared up to spread some holiday cheer, and oh boy, is there a whole lot going on! The city is buzzing with festive energy as holiday markets and activities kick off, giving us plenty of opportunities to get our shopping done and our hearts warmed.

Weather Forecast to Match the Cheer

Before we dive into all the holiday fun, let’s talk about the weather. Expect a lovely mainly sunny day with highs peaking at about 64°F and some light to moderate winds flowing in from the west at 15 to 25 mph. Hold onto your hats, though, because gusts might just whisk them away, hitting over 40 mph at times! As the sun goes down, get ready for a cooler evening with lows around 42°F — perfect for snuggling up and enjoying a hot drink.

Local Markets Are Here to Wow!

Now, onto the fun stuff! Gemma Maines was recently seen holding a stunning Rainbow Row ornament from Charleston Christmas Collectibles, a local gem at the Charleston City Market. This shop is just one of the many spots where you can find delightful ornaments and unique gifts this holiday season.

For those who enjoy a bustling shopping experience, don’t miss the Mount Pleasant Holiday Market and Craft Show on December 14th. Expect live music to get you in the festive mood, plus activities for the kids, including balloon art and visits with Santa! You can dive into the Christmas spirit for free, as there’s no admission charge. What a deal!

Santa Sightings!

Speaking of Santa, Emmett Domina was spotted at the annual Holiday Market in Charleston’s Marion Square, getting ready to share his Christmas wishes with the jolly old man in red. The Holiday Market at Marion Square will be your one-stop shop for everything festive, with local goodies and crafts galore on December 7, 8, 14, and 15. Why not check it out?

Wreaths and More on the USS Yorktown!

Feel like mixing a touch of history with your holiday fun? Head over to the USS Yorktown for their exciting Christmas events! Director Meaghan Silsby has announced a new initiative called Yuletide on the Yorktown, featuring a flight deck market filled with local vendors. Additionally, don’t miss the Festival of Wreaths, where beautifully crafted wreaths will be hung and auctioned off. Proceeds will support the USS Yorktown Foundation — talk about giving back!

Cocoa and Crafting

If you’re looking to indulge in some cocoa while exploring local art, head to the PWAC Holiday Market on December 3rd. Nestled in the heart of Summerville, the Public Works Art Center is the perfect spot to find one-of-a-kind handmade gifts while sipping on free hot cocoa!

Light Up the Night!

As the sun sets and the festive lights twinkle, don’t forget to visit the Holiday Festival of Lights at James Island County Park. Open nightly until December 31, it’s a magical experience that will brighten up your holiday season, complete with Santa appearances and tasty treats!

Dance and Celebrate

Mark your calendars for December 29th to join in the annual Chanukah in the Square celebration, where local dancers and musicians will fill downtown Charleston with joy. It’s all about community spirit and celebrating tradition, with festivities lasting from 4 to 6 p.m.

We Can’t Forget the Kids!

Bring the kiddos out to Mercantile & Mash on December 15th for Cookies with Santa! Children can get crafty by decorating their homemade cookies and enjoying all the festive merriment. Tickets are required for visits with Santa, so be sure to snag yours!

Wrap-Up

With so many holiday happenings in and around Charleston, it’s clear that this magical season is about more than just shopping. It’s a time for laughter, joy, and cherished moments with friends and family. So, gather your loved ones, get out there, and make some wonderful memories! Charleston is ready to show you the joys of the season!
