Charleston County Gears Up for Cast Off Fishing Tournaments

The popular Cast Off Fishing Tournaments are making a return to the Charleston County fishing piers this weekend. The seasonal events attract both experienced and novice anglers, offering a great platform for fishing enthusiasts to showcase their skills and avidity for this exciting sport.

Kick-off at Mount Pleasant Pier

The summer schedule begins at Mount Pleasant Pier with the first tournament slated for May 11, starting from 6 a.m. till 2 p.m. This beautiful pier offers not just a picturesque backdrop for the event but is also recognized for its rich aquatic life, providing an excellent opportunity for the participants to reel in some impressive catches.

Folly Beach Pier Follow-up

Next on the tournament schedule is the renowned Folly Beach Pier. The pier will host its first fishing tournament of the season on May 25, also from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Featured in diverse angling publications for its abundant fish population, this pier is expected to promise an engaging experience, and fierce competition amongst the participants.

Competition and Awards

The tournaments are structured to award the biggest three fish by weight, biggest catch by a youth (12 and under), and the best five fish by total weight. As per the tournament protocol, participants are eligible to win only one category. This format encourages a fair platform for all, from seasoned anglers to young, aspiring ones.

Registration Details

Registration is straightforward and accessible for all. The registration fees vary with the category; $12 for those aged 13 and above, $9 for military members, seniors, and those under the age of 12, whereas, fishing pass holders only have to pay $5. There is no provision for pre-registration, and participants can register on-site the morning of the event.

  • June 15, 6 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • September 21, 7 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Folly Beach Pier :

  • May 25, 6 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • June 22, 6 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • September 14, 7 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • October 12, 7 a.m. – 2 p.m.
