Charleston Celebrates Fall with Exciting Festivals and Family Fun

Charleston Welcomes Fall Festivities: Fairs, Festivals, and Fun!

Charleston is buzzing with excitement as we dive into the first few days of November! While the weather is looking pretty good, with partly cloudy skies and a very warm high of 81°F, there’s a whole lot happening around town that’ll make your heart feel just as warm. So grab your family or friends and make your way to some of the most fun events going on this weekend!

Coastal Carolina Fair Kicks Off

Starting on Halloween—Thursday, October 31—the Coastal Carolina Fair is back in Ladson! From thrilling rides like The Beast to delightful treats and an All-American petting zoo, this fair promises family-friendly fun from 3 to 9 p.m.. You’ll catch performances from local artists, including the talented Elise Testone on the Lakefront stage. And of course, there will be plenty of creative arts and youth art shows to explore. Tickets range from $6 to $35, so you can enjoy a day of fair fun that fits your pocketbook!

Halloween Celebrations Galore

If you’re in the mood for some Halloween festivities, there are multiple options waiting for you! The Civic Club’s Halloween Carnival starts at 5 p.m. on Folly River Park featuring games, costume contests, and delicious snacks galore. Plus, it’s free!

For those on the Goose Creek side of things, be sure to visit the Trunk-or-Treat at City Hall from 5:30 to 8 p.m.. The Goose Creek Police Department is hosting this spooktacular event that promises plenty of candy and a fantastic time for families.

And if you’re feeling adventurous, the Spooky Island Halloween Party at The Backyard at Little Palm kicks off at 8 p.m. This captivating evening combines island vibes with tarot card readings and more, giving you a chance to show off your best costume for a shot at winning an overnight stay at The Ryder Hotel!

A Harvest of Events

But wait, there’s more! After Halloween, the excitement continues with the Nurture Nest Fall Festival on the evening of October 31. From 5 to 8 p.m., come out to Bonneau for pumpkin decorating, games, and tasty seasonal treats—all for free!

On November 1, various events will fill the calendar. Join in on the Slow Fish 2024 gathering at the College of Charleston, an event focusing on connecting seafood harvesters, chefs, and advocates dedicated to sustainability (running noon to 5 p.m.).

Or, if you’re in the mood for some local art, check out “Twenty” at Robert Lange Studios from 5 to 8 p.m., featuring the creations of 50 talented artists celebrating the gallery’s 20th anniversary!

Fun Runs and Festivities This Weekend

On November 2, for the sporty types, lace up your sneakers for the Sweet Tea Half Marathon. Starting at 8 a.m., you can choose from a 13.1-mile run, a 10K, or a 5K, taking in the beautiful scenery of Summerville while enjoying live entertainment and delicious refreshments along the way!

If you’re looking for something a bit more relaxed, head over to the Timrod Library’s Fall Fest on November 2. From 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., there will be a gigantic book sale plus food and crafts. The event is free, and it’s a great way to support your local library!

Wrap It Up

So, whether you’re craving rides and games at the Coastal Carolina Fair or feeling festive with pumpkins and candy, Charleston has something for everyone this weekend. The warm weather, combined with delightful events, makes for a perfect autumn outing. Enjoy what our splendid city has to offer, and don’t forget to make some wonderful memories along the way!
