The fun-filled event, celebrated every year, is all set to quack off on May 4th, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Guggenheim Terrace on Daniel Island.
Visitors can anticipate a raucous scene of approximately 30,000 rubber ducks racing in this year’s event. The event offers an opportunity to all interested fuel their competitive spirit by “adopting” a rubber duck for a modest fee of $10. The duck that hatches first place in the race has the delightful prize of $10,000 awaiting its lucky adopter. Prizes are not limited to just the winner, as other top finishers stand a chance to bag exciting prizes as well.
Nine local Rotary Clubs have joined hands to concoct and conduct this delightful spectacle. The collective effort ensures a smooth and successful event. Rotary clubs participating include the Rotary Club of Daniel Island, Cainhoy-Peninsula, Mount Pleasant, Mount Pleasant Impact, North Charleston, North Charleston Breakfast, and North Charleston Breakfast Impact, alongside the Rotary Clubs of Summerville.
Aside from the sheer joy and friendly competition it sparks, the Duck Race also serves as a significant fundraiser. This community-centric event aligns with the values of the Charleston community in harmonizing enjoyment with social responsibility. All revenue generated through the event will be channeled towards numerous local nonprofit organizations and international service projects.
