Charleston Dominates Hofstra in Women’s Basketball Clash

In a thrilling matchup at the Mack Sports Center in Hempstead, N.Y., the College of Charleston women’s basketball team emerged victorious over Hofstra with a commanding 88-59 win. The Cougars displayed a dominant performance from start to finish, showcasing their prowess on both ends of the court.

Jada Logan’s Explosive Performance

One of the standout players of the game was Jada Logan, who put on a scoring clinic for the Cougars. Logan exploded for 24 points, leading the team in scoring while shooting an impressive 64.3% from the field. Her sharpshooting from beyond the arc, where she nailed four three-pointers, kept the Hofstra defense on its toes throughout the game.

Dynamic Offensive Display

Charleston’s offense was firing on all cylinders, as they knocked down 11 three-pointers and shot an efficient 46.9% from the field. Anika McGarity joined Logan in double-digit scoring with 14 points, including four three-pointers of her own. Alexis Andrews also contributed 16 points to the team’s total, showcasing the Cougars’ versatility on offense.

Lockdown Defense and Dominant Rebounding

Not to be outdone, the Cougars’ defense was suffocating, amassing an impressive 15 steals and forcing 22 turnovers. This defensive pressure translated into 22 points off turnovers, highlighting Charleston’s ability to convert defense into offense. Additionally, the Cougars dominated the boards, outrebounding Hofstra 42-26, with Taryn Barbot leading the charge with a double-double of 12 points and 13 rebounds.

Eyeing Conference Success

With this victory, College of Charleston improves to a stellar 10-3 record in conference play, firmly positioning themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the CAA. The win over Hofstra marks their fourth consecutive victory, signaling their momentum as they head into the crucial latter part of the season.

The Cougars will now shift their focus to their upcoming rematch against Monmouth on Sunday, February 25 at 2:00 p.m. as they aim to continue their winning ways and further solidify their standing in the conference.
