Exciting Times Ahead for Charleston with New $14.5 Million Distribution Facility Creating 52 Jobs

Exciting Times Ahead for Charleston with New Distribution Facility

Charleston has some exciting news on the horizon! East Coast Warehouse & Distribution is making its grand entrance into the South Carolina market with a brand-new facility right here in our charming city. This move is creating 52 jobs, and we couldn’t be happier about the positive impact this will have on our community and local economy.

A New Home for Temperature-Controlled Logistics

According to a recent press release, East Coast Warehouse & Distribution has decided to invest a whopping $14.5 million into their Charleston operations, marking this facility as their first in the state. Located at 2015 Tellico Road, the property is conveniently situated just a mile and a half from the SC Ports Hugh K. Leatherman Sr. Terminal. This puts the company in the perfect spot to provide essential logistics services tailored to temperature-sensitive products.

The facility will span a massive 259,000 square feet and will be built on 17.6 acres. It’s fantastic to see such a large-scale operation coming to our city! Additionally, there will be nine acres dedicated to parking and storage for trailers and containers—making it a significant hub for logistics.

Supporting Local and Global Markets

East Coast Warehouse & Distribution specializes in temperature-controlled logistics across a wide range of locations, including New York, New Jersey, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Savannah. This new facility will enhance their operations and help better serve food and beverage shippers, among others. The strategic location will undoubtedly provide brands with direct access to the Port of Charleston and the rapidly growing Southeast consumer market.

CEO Jamie Overley expressed his enthusiasm about the move, saying, “We’re thankful to our partners at Capital Development Partners and the Port of Charleston who helped us make a smooth transition into the Charleston market. This new facility will allow us to expand our footprint, improve productivity, maximize flexibility, and offer increased speed to customers in the greater Charleston area.” It’s clear that they are committed to making a significant contribution to our local economy!

A Warm Welcome from Local Leaders

Local leaders are equally excited about East Coast Warehouse & Distribution setting up shop in Charleston. Barbara Melvin, president and CEO of the South Carolina Ports, shared her support, stating, “South Carolina Ports welcomes East Coast Warehouse & Distribution to the Charleston port market. Their new temperature-controlled facility will support food and beverage shippers and others moving goods through the Port of Charleston.”

Herbert Ravenel Sass III, a member of the Charleston County Council, also chimed in, affirming that this decision is a testament to the region’s robust logistics capabilities. “We are excited to welcome them to our community and look forward to the economic growth and job opportunities their investment will bring,” he mentioned with palpable enthusiasm.

What’s Next for East Coast Warehouse & Distribution?

The operations at this new facility are set to kick off in the summer of 2025. While we wait for the grand opening, there’s no doubt that residents and businesses in Charleston are already feeling the positive energy from such a significant investment. The excitement is building, and it’s clear that this facility promises to open up many doors for local entrepreneurs and big-name brands alike.

In Summary

In a nutshell, East Coast Warehouse & Distribution is gearing up to make waves in Charleston, bringing along fresh job opportunities and enhancing the logistics landscape. As we prepare for this new chapter, let’s keep our eyes on the unfolding developments. Here’s to growth, community, and the continued prosperity of Charleston!
