The community of Hollywood, S.C., based in Charleston County, is currently on high alert following a shooting incident which occurred on Friday, June 21, causing damage to a local residence. The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) is actively engaged in a search for the suspect involved in the incident.
The CCSO confirmed that they responded to reports of a shooting in the 5700 block of Scott White Road on Friday evening, with the shooting taking place shortly after 8 p.m. The spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, Alexis Douglas, provided an outline of the series of events.
The suspect, identified only by the first name “Omarie,” had reportedly engaged in an altercation with the homeowner prior to the shooting. Following this dispute, Omarie allegedly began firing at the homeowner. It was during this incident that a nearby residence was struck by the stray bullets.
Despite the severity of the incident, Douglas confirmed there were no reported injuries. The damage caused by the gunfire was confined to the nearby residence which was hit.
The search for Omarie is ongoing, with the CCSO keen to apprehend the suspect as soon as possible. No arrests have yet been made in connection with the incident.
The sheriff’s office is urging anyone with any information relevant to the case to come forward and assist with the investigation. They have established a hotline for the purpose, with those able to provide any details on the incident or the suspect’s whereabouts encouraged to contact the CCSO at 843-202-1700.
