In the vibrant city of Charleston, the Charleston Crafts Gallery is preparing to host its upcoming event, “Garden Party!,” featuring an array of exclusive works by ten of its distinguished artists. Artists LuAnn Rosenzweig and Gini Steele have conceptualized astonishing attires for guests, setting the mood with vivid colors and aesthetic designs. Rosenzweig’s one-of-a-kind jackets and vests are considering perfect for special events, with her ‘Poppy Jacket’ shining bright among her collection. Steele, on the other hand, has knit dynamic shawls and scarves adorned with hand-felted flowers, aligning perfectly with the theme.
Taking the event’s theme one step further, artisans Nancy Warren and Susan Livingston have crafted unique table linens that mirror the charming ambiance of an outdoor feast. Nancy’s hand-woven placemats and napkins, along with Susan’s hand-dyed vintage linens, come together to create an alluring tablescape. Complementing their finely executed work are leather or origami paper napkin rings by Courtney Powers and Regina Semko, aptly finishing off the table arrangement. The event’s users will also experience the warmth of garden-themed lights by Stacy Green, crafted explicitly with fused glass.
Ceramic artist Anne John adds her touch to the event with her hand-crafted ceramic bowls, perfect for serving food at the picnic. The aesthetics of the surroundings will be further heightened with a beautiful floral wall quilt designed by textile artist Lynn Gettelfinger. The humor-filled, vividly colored yards birds created by Marty Biernbaum, hand-built from stoneware clay, will add a tropical touch to the decor, further enlivening the garden party.
Charleston Crafts Gallery is using this occasion to also commemorate its first anniversary since the relocation to 140 East Bay Street. The gallery has been a beacon of fine craft since 1989 and will continue its legacy by displaying works of all gallery members throughout the month. The display will span a wide variety of craft, including jewelry, encaustic paintings, fiber art, wood puzzles, mixed media collages, and functional and decorative objects made of wood, ceramic, and glass.
Located in the heart of the French Quarter, Charleston Crafts Gallery is the city’s only exclusively local craft gallery. The gallery is a vibrant community consisting of more than two dozen jury-selected artisans, all from South Carolina. It opens daily from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM and is managed by its friendly and knowledgeable member-artisans.
