The event is set to unfold at the Al Cannon Detention Center, located at 3841 Leeds Avenue. Mark your calendars for Friday, when the event kicks off from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., and don’t forget to swing by on Saturday morning from 9 a.m. to noon. If you haven’t registered yet, no worries! Same-day registration is available, and you can even take a few moments to sign up beforehand.

What to Expect

60 applicants at each and successfully hiring at least half of those interested. This gathering isn’t just mere recruitment; it’s a one-stop shop providing insight into the roles of Deputy Sheriff and Detention Deputy.

Here’s a rundown of what to expect at the event:

  • You’ll be asked to complete the Nelson-Denny Reading Test, which assesses reading, writing, and comprehension skills.
  • Next up, get ready to show your physical prowess! You’ll need to complete the Physical Ability Test in under two minutes and six seconds.
  • The event also features exciting displays showcasing different specialized units within the Sheriff’s Office, making it easier for you to figure out where you might fit in best.
  • Interested in seeing where you could work? There will be guided tours of the detention facility!

Who Can Apply?

This event opens its doors to a broad audience. If you’re at least 18 years old, you can start your application for detention positions without needing a college degree. What a great opportunity to kickstart your career!
