Charleston Cougars Fall to Monmouth Hawks in Challenging Road Game

The College of Charleston women’s basketball team faced a tough road challenge on Sunday afternoon, as they went head-to-head against the Monmouth Hawks. Despite a valiant effort, the Cougars ultimately fell short, losing by a score of 73-63.
Cougars Start Slow, Unable to Overcome Early Deficit
The game got off to a rough start for the Cougars, with Monmouth coming out strong and shooting exceptionally well from the field. Charleston struggled to find their rhythm early on, allowing the Hawks to build a 10-point lead by the end of the first quarter.
Despite their slow start, the Cougars found their footing as the game progressed. Led by standout performances from players like Jada Logan, who scored 26 points and grabbed nine rebounds, Charleston fought hard to stay within striking distance of Monmouth.
While the Cougars managed to cut the deficit to as little as two points in the fourth quarter, they were unable to overtake the Hawks and secure the lead. The early disadvantage proved to be too much to overcome, resulting in a tough loss on the road for Charleston.
Key Players Shine for the Cougars
Despite the outcome, several players made significant contributions for the Cougars during the game. Jada Logan’s impressive performance stood out, as she led the team in scoring and rebounding, providing a much-needed spark for Charleston throughout the contest.
In addition to Logan’s standout game, Taryn Barbot also had a strong showing, recording 17 points and nine rebounds. Zoe McCrary chipped in with eight rebounds and two blocks, showcasing the Cougars’ depth and resilience on the court.
