The district is looking for these two community members as they enter an “extremely difficult budgeting year” with many important decisions ahead. The minimum qualifications for the role include medium to large corporation work experience in finance, financial auditing, banking, economic development, business management or information technology.
“The decision was made a year ago to look on how to expand the committee onto some areas to seek expertise in areas that we didn’t have,” Board of Trustees Chair and Audit and Finance Committee member Keith Grybowski says.
A preferred qualification includes currently or previously holding the position of Chief Financial Officer in a large organization, defined as employing greater than 1,500 people with annual revenue in excess of $200 million.
“I think it’s important to have different viewpoints and different perspectives. To have such very limiting qualifications for the seat, it’s not good because you’re not going to get the perspective of parents or somebody else,” Constituent Board member Joy Brown says.
Community or industry leaders are primarily who they are looking for with the requirements and preferred qualifications being very specific.
If chosen to be on the committee, they will review the district’s financial reports, recommend policies that maintain and improve the financial health and integrity of the district and oversight of the internal and external audit functions. The deadline for interested community members is March 29. For more details on the position and how to apply, click here.
