In Charleston County, South Carolina, deputies are actively looking for a man who led law enforcement personnel on a high-speed chase in North Charleston on Thursday afternoon. The car pursuit ended in the Park Circle area, but the suspect is still at large.
The incident began when deputies attempted to make a traffic stop at East Montague Avenue and Lackawanna Boulevard around 2:15 p.m. on Thursday, according to Alexis Douglas, a spokesperson for the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office. The driver, however, refused to comply with the stop, thus initiating a short chase around various parts of North Charleston in the Park Circle area.
The chase ended when the suspect brought his vehicle to a halt at Bonds Wilson Drive and promptly fled on foot. Unfortunately, law enforcement was unable to detain the perpetrator at that moment and the search operation was launched to locate and apprehend the suspect. As of now, the deputies have not provided a description of the man they are searching for.
No arrests have currently been made and the investigation is ongoing. The sheriff’s office representative, Alexis Douglas, has stated there is no immediate threat to the community following the incident.
