In an epic display of culture and festivity, the Holy City Charleston threw a significant series of events and parties to mark Cinco de Mayo in 2024.

5K Cinco de Mayo Run

Throughout May, a Cinco de Mayo-themed 5K was held, attracting residents and visitors to either walk, run, or jog for a good cause – Lyme Disease awareness. As part of the registration process, participants were given the option to log their miles and timing, and a unique Cinco De Mayo race medal was awarded upon completion. Notably, 15 percent of the registration fees were donated to the Global Lyme Alliance, which is continually striving to eliminate Lyme and other tick-borne diseases.

Cinco de Mayo Celebration Extravaganza

On May 4th, a day before the actual event, Whiskey Run Sports Bar & Grill in North Charleston hosted a Cinco de Mayo Poker Run to support Fire & Iron Station 28, Chucktown Crew. The same day, a grand Festival happened at the Cruise Terminal Downtown Charleston, boasting live music and dance exhibitions. Authentic cuisines from various Latin countries were served, including Mexico, Venezuela, Ecuador, and Colombia.

This exclusive event included festive decorations, bites and drinks, and music throughout the day. Chef Damian Sandoval served up Mexican street food at Coterie with cocktail specials from Lalo Tequila. Among the festive specials was Maya, offering a collaboration with Tequila Ocho for specialty cocktails and bites all day.

A Toast to Arts!
