Hey folks of Charleston! If you’re a food lover and enjoy a little friendly competition, then you’re in for a treat. The city is buzzing with excitement for two fantastic food events happening soon: the Burger Throwdown and the world-renowned BagelFest in New York. Let’s dive into the details!
First up, we have the Burger Throwdown, where Charleston’s eateries battle it out for the ultimate burger crown. Voting opened recently, and foodies have the chance to pick their favorites in six mouthwatering categories, including Best Hangover Helper, Best Faux Burger, and more!
Make sure to cast your votes before October 2nd! This is a great opportunity to support your favorite local burger joints while indulging in some tasty bites. After all, who doesn’t love a delicious burger? The competition is fierce, with a variety of restaurants showcasing their culinary talents. If you haven’t tried the contenders yet, now is the perfect time to explore and munch your way through the best burgers in town.
Now, let’s shift gears to something doughy and delightful! Our very own Holey City Bagels is gearing up for a big trip to New York for the BagelFest on September 28. This festival is often touted as the “premier bagel celebration” and features over 40 bagel shops from across the globe, making it a must-see event for bagel lovers.
Located at 43 Cannon Street, Holey City Bagels opened its doors in 2022 and quickly captured the hearts (and stomachs) of locals, often selling out of their deliciously hand-rolled, water-boiled bagels! Owner Greg Odachowski is thrilled to represent Charleston and the entire Southeast region at this prestigious gathering. “We are so honored to be representing Charleston and the entire southeast at New York BagelFest on Saturday,” he shared excitedly. “We would love to bring home an award, but it is enough for us to be there rubbing elbows with some of my bagel idols.”
At BagelFest, participants will sample an array of bagels and vote for their favorites in several exciting categories, including Best of the Fest and Schmear of the Year. It promises to be a fun and engaging event for everyone involved, especially for Holey City, whose recipe development began back when Odachowski was a humble farmers market vendor. How far they’ve come!
As Charleston continues to grow in its culinary scene, events like the Burger Throwdown and BagelFest are vital for highlighting our local talent and flavors. By voting in the Burger Throwdown or cheering for Holey City Bagels, you’re not just feasting on delicious food, but you’re also supporting local businesses and independent artisans striving to make their mark in the world.
So, don’t miss out on these tasty celebrations! Your taste buds will thank you, and you can feel great knowing you’re supporting the local culinary community. Remember, every vote counts in the Burger Throwdown, and you’ll want to play your part in celebrating the incredible food scene here in Charleston!
