What’s HOPpening: Updates on Charleston Breweries

The vibrant city of Charleston is home to a vibrant craft beer scene, with breweries showcasing a wide range of brews to cater to a diverse palette. The summers don’t just bring heat in Charleston, but also make for the perfect time to explore the new offerings across local breweries.

Bevi Bene Brewing Company

Backed by a specialty in lagers and hard kombuchas, products of Charleston’s Bevi Bene Brewing Company can help to beat the summer heat. The company is hosting guests with its rustic German lager known as Sommer Bier, designed particularly for hot summer days.

Charleston Brewery District Trolley

Local beer enthusiasts can now ride the Charleston Brewery District trolley every Saturday, from 2 pm to 8 pm, to explore the offerings at 10 local breweries. These breweries include Tradesman, Edmund’s Oast, Cooper River, Palmetto, Revelry, Fatty’s, Lo-Fi, Bevi Bene, Brewlab, and Munkle.

Edisto River Brewing Company

Adding to the weekend fun, guests can head to the Edisto River Brewing Company every Friday at 6:30 pm for a darts tournament. This slip-off-the-lip event promises a chance to win cash prizes.

Frothy Beard Event Collaboration

Frothy Beard, in West Ashley, is partnering with the Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (ABVI) for a team relay challenge slated for July 7. This unique challenge involves trying to feel, hear, smell, and taste their way through eight different games like flip cup, beer pong, and giant Jenga. All ticket proceeds will be donated to ABVI.

Munkle and Coast Brewing Collaboration

Munkle and Coast Brewing have joined forces to craft a refreshing summer beer, Pier Pressure, which is a West Coast pilsner. It can now be enjoyed in both taprooms located in Charleston and North Charleston, respectively.

The Brewery Comedy Tour

Mark your calendars for July 20 as The Brewery Comedy Tour heads to Indigo Reef Brewing Co. in the Cainhoy area. This nationwide tour in its 11th year stands strong, having performed over 4,300 shows across the country.

Snafu Brewing Company

Snafu Brewing Company of North Charleston recently released a hazy IPA, called Brain Rot, dry-hopped with Galaxy and Citra hops. The brew can be perfectly paired with delectable dishes from local food trucks; for example, Bangin Vegan Eats on July 6.

These are just a few pockets of the thriving brewery scene in Charleston. With numerous opportunities to sip on local brews, take a brewery tour, or challenge yourself at a fun event — there’s always something HOPpening in Charleston.
