Good morning, Charleston! If you stepped outside today, you might have noticed a bit of patchy fog gently hugging the streets, setting a serene mood for the day. The beauty of a foggy morning is unlike any other, right? It gives our historical city an almost magical feel, as familiar sights get cloaked in a delicate mist. As the day progresses, the fog is expected to clear, giving way to partly cloudy skies and a comfortable high of 76°F. Don’t forget to take advantage of those gentle northeast winds, which will be blowing in at about 10 to 20 mph!
For those of us planning an evening out, the temperatures will drop to a cozy 64°F tonight, so a light jacket might be a good idea! The winds will calm down a bit, blowing at around 10 to 15 mph. If you’re thinking about heading out for a stroll, maybe detour to your favorite park or waterfront area. The scenery promises to be stunning, especially as the sun begins to set.
Residents and visitors alike are in for a treat as they witness the gorgeous reflections that the weather has produced. Take, for instance, the stunning moment captured by David AvRutick, who sent us a photograph of the stony steeple of St. Philips Church glimmering in a puddle on Church Street. Oh, the beauty spotted in Charleston is enough to make anyone pause. It’s a gentle reminder to appreciate the little things in life, like a simple puddle reflecting our rich history!
Not to be outdone, Merv Gibson shared his incredible shot where sailboats bobbed gracefully in the Ashley River. The fog wrapping around the scene gives it a soft, dream-like quality that many photographers long to achieve. Isn’t it refreshing to see how our community immerses itself in nature, finding joy and inspiration in everyday surroundings?
Speaking of beautiful imagery, let’s not forget to mention our weekly photo contest. This week’s winner is none other than David AvRutick for his mesmerizing puddle reflection shot! But the fun doesn’t stop there; we invite you to participate in next week’s topic, titled ‘The Daily Grind’. We want to see the routines that keep you hustling and bustling. Send your best shots to yourphotos@postandcourier.com before noon Thursday. Remember, include your name and where the photo was taken!
Mark your calendars because every Friday, we announce the editors’ pick of the week. Keep your eyes peeled on our website for a delightful gallery of submitted photos on Saturdays, concluding with the photograph of the week appearing on Sundays. Who will take the crown next? We’re always excited to see what Charleston’s talented photographers will bring to the table!
So, get out there today and soak up the lovely Charleston air. Whether you’re gazing at a historic steeple, admiring sailboats drifting along the river, or simply enjoying the pleasant fall weather, there’s beauty abound in our beloved city. Don’t forget to keep your cameras ready, and we look forward to seeing your wonderful captures next week!
