Charleston Unveils New Tattoo Haven with the Opening of Abracadabra Tattoo Club

Charleston Welcomes Abracadabra Tattoo Club

Charleston is buzzing with excitement as the recently opened Abracadabra Tattoo Club in Moncks Corner becomes the new hotspot for all things tattoo. This vibrant new studio is the brainchild of two talented and well-loved tattoo artists, Jacob Reiss and Bunny Stardust, who are no strangers to the art scene here in Charleston. Their passion for tattooing and their unique styles have already made waves, but now they’re ready to take things to the next level!

A Warm Welcome

As soon as you step into Abracadabra, you can’t help but feel right at home. The doors greet you with cheerful Betty Boop figures, setting the tone for what’s to come inside. The space is drenched in sunlight and features an open layout where you can see each of the five resident artists at work. Among the walls are their stunning artworks, ranging from hyper-realistic black and white drawings to vibrant, colorful paintings that pop with personality.

“When you pull up, you just feel comfortable and safe,” Reiss explained with a warm smile. Their receptionist, Victoria, ensures everyone feels welcome, greeting clients by name and making a lasting first impression. Stardust added, “We really wanted it to feel like hanging out at a friend’s house. It’s about creating a space where people feel comfortable and engaged.”

A Magical Team

The diverse styles of tattooing at Abracadabra are truly something to behold! Alongside Reiss’s fine-line tattoos, Stardust’s bubbly and colorful creations also shine brightly. Joining them are Nick Bishop, whose talent lies in black and gray hyper-realism, Bre Eazy, known for illustrative realism, and Cowboy Dan, who brings a cool West Coast vibe to the mix. With artists like these, it’s clear that this establishment is a powerhouse of talent!

Reiss and Stardust are not new to each other. They shared laughter and stories about how they met while working together at a previous tattoo shop, Blu Gorilla. They recognized the importance of surrounding themselves with their favorite artists and were determined to create a family-like atmosphere at their shop. “We definitely have the dream team,” said Reiss. “I wanted to come to work every day and work with my friends.” As Stardust chimed in, “We’re like one big family here, and that sense of togetherness resonates with our clients.”

Building Connections

Abracadabra Tattoo Club isn’t just about the art; it’s about the relationships they build with clients too! “We get to personally know everyone who comes in here,” Reiss remarked. Their philosophy? It’s never just about the money—it’s about the genuine connections that make the experience memorable. Stardust echoed that sentiment: “I love creating and helping someone express themselves. Self-expression is paramount, and it gives me great joy to facilitate that for others.”

Spreading the Magic Beyond Borders

Remarkably, even in their short time being open this summer, the team at Abracadabra has already attracted clientele from as far away as Canada, England, and even Japan. Stardust and Reiss chose their location thoughtfully; Moncks Corner is conveniently close to Goose Creek and Cane Bay, making it a prime spot for growing the clientele base. They recognized the shift; with people flocking from afar, they didn’t feel the need to stick to downtown.

Reflecting on their journey, both artists expressed gratitude for how smoothly everything has unfolded. Their mutual respect and great communication are evidently key elements in their friendship and business partnership. “She’s my rock,” Reiss said about Stardust. “Together, there’s no challenge we can’t overcome.”

Personal Touches and Community Spirit

Abracadabra is more than just a place to get tattoos; it’s an extension of Reiss and Stardust’s personalities. The Betty Boop motif honors Stardust’s grandmother, a significant influence when she first began her tattooing journey. Meanwhile, the studio’s name comes from a special song that has been dear to Reiss for years. “It turned out the song’s original name was *Abracadabra*,” he shared with a chuckle, recalling the challenges of convincing others of its uniqueness. The concept of naming it a tattoo “club” also reflects their vision of community—bringing people together through art.

With everything they’ve poured into this space, it’s no wonder that the grand opening party on August 11 was a hit. For anyone itching to check out Abracadabra Tattoo Club, stop by and experience the magic for yourself! The artists are ready to welcome you with open arms and some incredible art.
