Charitable Initiative by Home Team and Swig and Swine BBQ Raises Over $200K for Local Nonprofits

In a heartening act of community support, local establishments Home Team BBQ and Swig and Swine BBQ banded together to make a sizeable contribution to a number of Charleston-area nonprofit organizations. This collaborative endeavor resulted in an impressive donation of over $200,000, underscoring the strong spirit of giving within these home-grown, southern enterprises.

A Joint Effort to Give Back to the Community

On Tuesday, as part of their annual charity drive, the partnered barbecue restaurants joined forces to raise funds to assist their local community in meaningful ways. Anthony DiBernardo, Pitmaster and owner of Swig and Swine, took center stage in presenting several sizeable donations to different causes in the Charleston area.

DiBernardo spoke emphatically about their ongoing efforts, highlighting the considerable gratitude they receive from the beneficiaries of their community outreach programs. He said, “The organizations that we partner with, we partner with for multiple reasons. But the fact that the families here are so appreciative of what we do, day in and day out, to raise funds for them. The families that partake in the Fisher House, the veterans, and their families – I can’t describe the amount of thanks we get from all these organizations that we help.”

Significant Contributions to Essential Local Causes

The fundraising initiative by Home Team BBQ and Swig and Swine resulted in an impressive accumulation of over $200,000 for local nonprofits. Notably, $100,000 of this total donation was dedicated to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Charleston; a testament to the restaurant partners’ dedication to supporting critical health and wellbeing services for young individuals in their locale.

Substantial donations were also given to other notable causes. Hogs for Cause, a nonprofit that provides aid for families with pediatric brain cancer, received $100,000 to help amplify their essential services. An additional $10,000 was donated to Friends of Fisher House Charleston; an organization that provides a “home away from home” for veterans’ families during critical times.

An Annual Commitment to Positive Change

The fundraising drive by the renowned barbecue establishments is an ongoing, annual initiative that continuously injects significant funds into their community. Both Home Team BBQ and Swig and Swine showcase an enduring commitment to giving back to the community that supports them, through philanthropic efforts that aim to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.

The coordinated effort of these restaurants in providing charitable assistance to their local nonprofits is a powerful testament to what can be achieved through community cohesion and shared values. This act of unity, generosity and community support by Home Team BBQ and Swig and Swine will surely inspire further acts of kindness and communal assistance throughout the Charleston area.

The significant charitable work of these establishments sheds positive light on the power of local businesses to make central contributions to their communities. Their ongoing dedication to these initiatives cements both Home Team BBQ and Swig and Swine BBQ as beloved members of the Charleston community, with charitable works as authentic as their famed southern barbecue.
