Charleston, S.C. is buzzing with excitement as a local gem, Carmella’s Café and Dessert Bar, prepares to make its debut on a popular YouTube series that highlights independently owned restaurants. This charming European-style dessert bar is not only a favorite among locals but also aims to showcase its delightful offerings and rich history to a larger audience.
Mark your calendars for October 28th if you’re in the area! Carmella’s is inviting everyone to stop by between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. for some sweet treats while being a part of the filming process. It’s a fantastic opportunity for dessert lovers to grab their favorite indulgence and become a background star in the episode!
As part of the festivities, Carmella’s is sweetening the deal with a fun giveaway. They are offering two $25 gift cards to lucky customers who engage with their posts on Facebook. So, make sure to check in and join the fun!
The brainchild of owner Brian Solari, Carmella’s Café was born out of a simple observation. While working in Charleston’s vibrant restaurant scene, he noticed patrons heading elsewhere for cocktails and desserts. Inspired, he decided to create a space that combined both delights.
In 2015, Carmella’s opened its doors at 198 E Bay Street and quickly became a beloved spot for delicious desserts and drinks. The café is named in honor of Solari’s Italian grandmother, who instilled in him a love for cooking. What started as a dream has blossomed into a flourishing business, with a second location opening earlier this year in Greenville.
Carmella’s has garnered a reputation for excellence, winning several awards, including being recognized as one of Charleston’s best by USA Today. Among the menu highlights, customers rave about the espresso martini, the chocolate peanut butter cake, and the iconic Drunken Resurrection milkshake. One of their standout items, the cannoli cake, has captured the hearts of both locals and visitors alike!
With plenty of customers flocking through the doors, Solari is hopeful that this filming opportunity will enhance the café’s long-term sustainability. “[I want] long-term marketing, I want to build a brand. Shows like this support the long-term branding that we’re trying to do,” he shared. It’s clear that Solari is passionate about his craft, and with the spotlight on Carmella’s, there’s no telling how far this sweet spot can go!
The finished episode featuring Carmella’s Café will be available on the America’s Best Restaurants website. This exposure is sure to attract more dessert aficionados to this lovely café nestled in the heart of Charleston.
As Halloween approaches, and if you’re planning any celebrations or gatherings, why not stop by Carmella’s to pick up something sweet? Whether it’s for a spooky party, or simply to satisfy your sweet tooth, Carmella’s is sure to have something delicious waiting for you.
In the ever-bustling culinary scene of Charleston, Carmella’s Café and Dessert Bar continues to make a mark, inviting everyone to indulge in a little sweetness and be a part of their exciting journey!
