Carmella’s Cafe and Dessert Bar, located in the center of downtown Charleston, combines generationally tested culinary cuisine with a regional flair. We feature an ever-changing selection of desserts, gelato, and sorbet, as well as fresh, organic coffees, sandwiches, wine, beer, and drinks.

Carmella Solari’s house was always buzzing with activity and people gathered. Families, neighbors, and children were constantly coming and going to get the latest batch of biscotti, reheat a serving of last night’s spaghetti, or grab a stack of pancakes on Sunday morning. Carmella’s Cafe & Dessert Bar is all about that.

Brian’s goal for Carmella was to bring to life the concepts of the “Italian Piazza,” where people come to reconnect with their community over life’s greatest pleasures. Our relationships with others are the most essential component of our lives, and the goal of Carmella’s concept is to bring the community together over the greatest Italian cooking Charleston has to offer in a welcoming and stimulating environment.
