Breeze Airways Flight Attendants Vote Unanimously to Unionize
In a significant professional development, flight attendants employed with Breeze Airways, headquartered in Charleston, South Carolina, have passed a motion in favor of unionizing.

Breeze Airways is primarily a low-cost airline, offering both seasonal and year-round nonstop services to over 50 cities within the United States, Charleston International Airport being especially included in this expansive roster. It was established in May 2021 and now commands over 650 employees in their flight attendant sector.
Journery Towards Union
The journey towards unionization began in January 2024, when the flight attendants of Breeze Airways announced their intent to form a union. The news was initially disseminated by the Association of Flight Attendants (AFA). They cited substandard wages, inconsistent work hours, and alleged mistreatment from their management as primary concerns fueling their drive to unionize.
Vote for Unionization
The unionization decision saw remarkable support, with a staggering 76 percent of Breeze Airways’ flight attendants voting in favor during the National Mediation Board certified election. The AFA highlighted that the flight attendants were seeking dependable job security, competitive pay, and consistent scheduling rules.
Union Representative’s Take
AFA International President Sara Nelson provided a statement in support, remarking that the flight attendants wanted job security in the long run. She added, they desire an increase in pay to match direct competition and seek scheduling rules that don’t switch between days, offering consistency and reliability for the employees involved.
Looking Forward
As a result of this vote, Breeze Airways will now stand among the 19 other airlines currently represented by the AFA. The association will take on the role of a negotiating representative for Breeze’s flight attendants as they start to draft a contract. This contract will then be presented to the airline company for consideration.
