Get Ready for the 33rd Annual Reindeer Run in Downtown Charleston on December 14, 2024!

Get Ready, Charleston! The 33rd Annual Reindeer Run is Almost Here

It’s that jolly time of year again, Charleston! The 33rd Annual Reindeer Run, a festive 5k foot race, is making its way back to the heart of our beloved downtown on December 14, 2024. This beloved tradition not only encourages fitness but is also a fantastic way to give back, as all funds raised will benefit the MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital.

What You Need to Know

Mark your calendars, folks! Registration is capped at 3,500 participants, so it’s a good idea to secure your spot as early as possible. The plan is to kick things off bright and early with the race starting at 8 a.m. sharp at the corner of Meeting Street and Market Street. Make sure you arrive by 7:30 a.m. because you won’t want to miss the excitement!

Location and Momentum

After a successful run last year, the event is once again set to take place at The Charleston Place Hotel. Race Director Scott Bagwell is thrilled about returning to this scenic location. He shared, “We’re ecstatic to be in Downtown Charleston while celebrating the 33rd annual Reindeer Run. This scenic course is fast and flat for our participants, and we can’t wait to see everyone out at the start line with Santa.”

What’s Included

If you’re thinking of joining, the registration includes some fabulous goodies! Participants will receive a long-sleeve tech shirt to help you stay stylish and comfortable during your run, along with adorable Reindeer Run antlers and a unique finisher medal to add to your collection.

Pre-Race Excitement

The fun begins the day before the race, on December 13. Head over to Half Moon Outfitters in West Ashley anytime from noon to 6 p.m. for pre-race packet pickup. This will be your chance to grab all your race goodies and also complete any last-minute in-person registration.

Festive Fun Beyond the Finish Line

Once you’ve crossed that finish line, the excitement isn’t over! A delightful post-race finish festival will be held on Market Street in front of The Charleston Place. This year, the fan-favorite costume contest is making a comeback! So, dust off your most creative holiday attire and come dressed to impress.

Costume Contest Categories

There are several categories to dive into, including:

  • Adult Individual
  • Child Individual
  • Group Costume
  • Dog Costume

The top three in each category will walk away with exciting prizes and gift cards from some fantastic local restaurants and attractions!

How to Register

If you’re eager to be part of this joyful experience, you can register online at reindeerun.org. Remember that in-person registration will also be available at the EXPO on December 13, so mark your calendars and gather your friends and family for a fun-filled day of running, laughter, and holiday cheer.

Let’s Get Those Hooves Moving!

So, Charleston, whether you’re a seasoned runner or just looking to enjoy a festive day with loved ones, the Reindeer Run has something for everyone. Lace up those running shoes, throw on some holiday spirit, and let’s make this year’s run one to remember!
