Legami Brings a Taste of Torino to Charleston’s King Street
Charleston is continuing to cement its reputation as a vibrant foodie town, and the latest addition to its bustling culinary scene is a charming new Italian restaurant called Legami. Located at 492 King Street, this delightful spot brings a taste of Italy right to the heart of Charleston.
Connections That Matter
The name “Legami” means “ties” or “bonds” in Italian, and the restaurant truly embodies this spirit. Owned by Washington Street Hospitality, the creators of beloved eateries like Pasta Beach in New England, Legami aims to forge deep connections within the community while sharing their culinary passion. Brothers Eldredge and Tyler Ropolo, along with partners Don and Joanne Migliori of Migliori Pizza fame, put their hearts into making this place a welcoming haven for food lovers.
A Chef with Artistic Flair
Helping to bring the menu to life is the talented Executive Chef Andrea Congiusta, who hails from Rome. Armed with experience from Michelin-starred restaurants, his approach focuses on creativity and technique. Eldredge enthusiastically remarks, “He’s an exceptionally talented chef and has mastered quite a few techniques over the years to express himself in an artistic way.”
Beautifully Designed Space
The restaurant itself is a feast for the eyes. Designed by Tyler Ropolo, Legami features 180 seats designed with elegance in mind, boasting marble tables, wall sconces sourced from Torino, a glass room, and a lovely veranda. Eldredge describes the space as “very elegant”, setting the perfect tone for a memorable dining experience.

Now, let’s take a peek at what’s cooking in Legami’s kitchen! The menu is rich with options, starting with a fish of the day and a luxurious caviar section featuring sturgeon, ossettra, and beluga. For a fun appetizer, you might try the gnoccho frito, which is fried dough topped with Prosciutto di Parma. Yum!
For those who are adventurous, exciting small plates await, including foie gras, braised octopus with tomato chutney and a delightful foam that promises to be light and refreshing. Pasta lovers will rejoice at the selection of handmade options, such as ricotta ravioli with pomodoro, or tagliolini tossed with king crab and spicy Calabrian chili flakes.

The Ropolo brothers are especially excited about their foray into Charleston. “We grew up in Northern Italy and spent summers in Newport,” says Eldredge. “My entire family fell in love with Charleston, and we’re looking forward to connecting with the Charleston community.”
