Charleston Musicians Shine at 2024 Dove Awards
Charleston, S.C. – What a week it has been for homegrown musical talents Brandon Lake and Chandler Moore! These two local stars are in high spirits after bringing home multiple awards at the recently held 2024 Dove Awards in Nashville, Tennessee. For fans of gospel music, this event is like the Super Bowl—it’s where the biggest names in the industry celebrate and recognize each other’s talents. And boy, did our Charleston boys bring their A-game!
Brandon Lake’s Big Wins
Brandon Lake didn’t just attend the ceremony; he owned it! He snagged three impressive awards, making a mark with his incredible craft. Among his victories was the coveted Songwriter of the Year award. But that’s not all—he also received the award for Worship Recorded Song of the Year for his powerful track “Praise,” and his album Coat of Many Colors was crowned as Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year. Let’s just say, it was a night to remember!
Chandler Moore Shines Bright
Not to be outdone, North Charleston native Chandler Moore also walked away with three awards. He earned one of these alongside Lake for Worship Recorded Song of the Year. Moreover, he took home the honors for Contemporary Gospel Recorded Song of the Year and Contemporary Gospel Album of the Year, showcasing his talents not only as a performer but also as a skilled writer. It’s clear that both of these artists are on a roll!
A Look Back at Their Journey
It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first big win for these talented musicians. Earlier this year, in February 2023, Lake and Moore collectively won four Grammy Awards as part of the gospel group Maverick City Music. It’s wonderful to see their hard work paying off as they continue to make waves not just locally, but also on national platforms.
In addition to their recent accolades, Brandon Lake made headlines earlier this year with a sold-out concert at Credit One Stadium on Daniel Island during his Tear the Roof Off tour. The concert was part of his promotional efforts for his album Coat of Many Colors, which debuted at number one on the Top Christian Albums chart. Clearly, both artists have not only captured the hearts of many but have also established themselves firmly in the industry.
