Smash City Burger Overtakes Fair Deal Grocery on Charleston’s Eastside Peninsula

In a significant turn of events, the Charleston-based food truck, Smash City Burger, is set to make a significant leap. Known for their delicious burgers, the food truck is transitioning to a fixed location, taking over the popular Fair Deal Grocery. Located on Charleston’s eastside peninsula, the move offers customers a brand new experience, blending a robust history with a fresh take on food.

Smash City Burger’s Inception and Expansion

Born out of the passion and dedication of the owner, Jeremy Reynolds, Smash City Burger started as a food truck roaming the streets of Charleston. Benefiting from several pop-ups out of the Fair Deal Grocery store, the decision to have their first brick-and-mortar location comes as a welcome addition to Charleston’s vibrant food scene. The move heralds a new era for the local burger establishment as they become a permanent fixture at the 47 Cooper Street address.

Preserving and Celebrating Legacy

Fair Deal Grocery, a family-owned store since 1953, holds a profound significance to the eastside residents. The decision to retain the Fair Deal Grocery name pays homage to the Powell’s legacy and the history the store has with Charleston. As Reynolds stated in a recent announcement, “We’re excited about this transition, but we also recognize the need to preserve the rich history associated with the location amid the rapid changes occurring in Charleston”.

What’s Next for the Smash City at Fair Deal Grocery?

Set to officially commence operations on July 1, the store will now be known as Smash City at Fair Deal Grocery. Before they officially open to the public, there will be a “Friends and Family” event on July 3rd, ensuring a warm neighborhood welcome for the new establishment. Public service will start on July 5th with an initial focus on serving the local community and becoming a part of the Eastside’s burgeoning culinary landscape.

The new establishment will maintain operation from Wednesday to Sunday, offering their services from 11 a.m to 8 p.m. As part of their expansion, Smash City Burger is also looking to hire additional help, welcoming anyone interested to join their team.

Exciting Times Ahead

Enthused by the upcoming transition, Reynolds has promised exciting changes to the menu following a series of taste tests. For fans of the food truck, Smash City Burgers will continue their regular operations, offering the same delicious burgers the city has come to love.

As Smash City Burger embarks on this new journey, the residents of Charleston and the wider lowcountry area can look forward to a unique culinary experience that combines a rich history with a tasty future.
