In a stark incident that took place in Goose Creek, South Carolina, a man had to be rescued by emergency services when a tree fell onto his home on a peaceful Saturday morning. The Goose Creek Rural Fire Department (GCRFD) responded promptly to the call on Mapleridge Drive and found a man trapped in his mobile home, pinned to his bed by the fallen tree.

Heavy Structural Damage and Immediate Rescue

The emergency personnel arrived to find the house with severe structural damage, especially the rear bedroom, where the tree had landed. The fallen tree, estimated to weigh approximately 25,000 lbs caused significant destruction to the building and trapped the man inside. The firefighters from the GCRFD found the man lying on his bed, pinned down at about waist level by the fallen tree. Horrifically, the victim’s legs were not visible to the rescue team, and the man was unable to move them.

Successful Rescue Operation

Upon identifying the extent of the situation, a tow truck from Elite Towing was quickly brought in to assist with the rescue. The tow truck managed to lift the tree about three feet, providing the emergency responders with a window of opportunity to free the man from his terrifying ordeal. Upon successful extrication, the man was immediately rushed to Trident Hospital for urgent medical attention. After the man was secure, the fire personnel lowered the tree back onto the house, ensuring no further damage could occur.
