In a tragic traffic accident near Awendaw, South Carolina, a 49-year-old man lost his life. Anthony Craven, a local resident, was identified as the victim of the auto-pedestrian crash.
In the late hours of the evening, Awendaw-McClellanville Fire District reported that the crash occurred in the 7400 block of Highway 17, near Murrell Road. As first responders attended to the scene, a portion of the bustling highway was temporarily shut down by the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office.
Anthony Craven of Awendaw was the pedestrian involved in the fatal crash. The Charleston County Coroner’s Office confirmed his identity and announced that the cause of death was blunt force injuries, resulting from the collision. Craven was pronounced dead at the crash site.
The Charleston County Coroner’s Office is currently investigating the crash. In this stage, officials have stated they do not anticipate filing any felony-level charges related to the incident.
