And even looking at the pathology that you’re treating, whether it’s clipping an aneurysm, removing a tumor, removing a herniated disc in the back, or removing pineal cysts. This is improving.”

Everly has not experienced a single seizure since her surgery in 2022. The success of the procedure meant being able to truly know their daughter for the first time. “People take that for granted. But after the surgery, we were able to see her, how she was, and she’s really funny”, says Sharp. She added, “I believe with all of my heart that this equipment did that and helped him and us in such a successful surgery.”

Future Developments

The Synaptive Exoscope is currently in use at the Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital, primarily for pediatric surgeries. However, plans are underway to introduce this state-of-the-art technology at the main MUSC hospital site, widening its reach and potential to benefit numerous more patients.
