In the Lowcountry, this year’s St. Patrick’s Day festivities are as extensive as they are enchanting. From early parties to fun bar crawls and family-friendly parades, there is something for everyone in these celebrations marking this Irish-inspired day of merriment.
The festivities kick-off on March 9 with a host of early events. Enjoy a live performance by singer-songwriter Allen Sweeney at Madra Rua Irish Pub, or join the 20th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Block Party & Parade, touted to be the largest such party in the Lowcountry. This event offers a blend of live music, fantastic food, and kid-friendly attractions.
On March 14, prepare to race for the Pot o’ GOLD at the Catch the Leprechaun 5K held at Carolina Park. This family-friendly event invites participants of all ages to don their best green and Irish-themed outfits and join the race.
Get a classic St. Patrick’s Day experience at The Town Market on Johns Island, or be part of the 9th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Party at Summerville Pub. If you have an intellectual streak, join the St Patty’s Day Book & Bottle Exchange at The Schoolhouse.
The weekend-long parties begin with a kick-off to St. Paddy’s with the Stingrays on the 15th. Not only will there be great music, but the event also features attractive drink offers.
One of the highlights of the celebration is the St. Patrick’s Day Parade on the 16th. The largest in South Carolina, the parade features an array of participants, from military vehicles and fire trucks to local bands and Irish step dancers. It promises to be a spectacle of colors and sound, reinforcing the community spirit of the Lowcountry.
On the same day, The Brick hosts its 8th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Party. Starting early morning, the focus will be on exclusive food and drink specials to mark the day.

On March 17, the actual St. Patrick’s Day, the celebrations rise to a crescendo. From Triangle’s Annual St. Patrick’s Day Party to Charleston Official St. Patrick’s Day Bar Crawl, there’s something for everyone.
Several locations are also hosting weekend-long events. Expect great beer, delicious food, and live music at Two Blokes Brewing, fun-filled events at A Dough Re Mi Pizza, or join the Kiss Me, I’m Irish: Charleston St. Patrick’s Day Bar Crawl running for three days.
